Facebook Ads privacy policy URL (and Facebook Lead Ads)

Facebook Ads and Facebook Lead Ads both require a privacy policy URLbefore you can launch campaigns that collect user data. If you don't already have a hosted privacy policy page, you'll hit a dead end in Ads Manager.

No drafting, no hosting setup. Answer a few questions and paste the URL straight into Facebook Ads Manager.

Why Facebook requires a privacy policy URL

When you run Facebook Ads or use Facebook Lead Ads to collect information (names, emails, phone numbers, etc.), Meta expects you to link to a live privacy policy page hosted on your own domain. That page explains:

  • What data you collect through your ads and forms
  • How you use and store that data
  • Whether you share it with any third parties
  • How people can contact you or request deletion

If you leave the privacy policy field blank—or paste a broken link— Facebook can disapprove your ad or your Facebook Lead Ads form.

Where to add your privacy policy URL in Facebook Ads

For a standard Facebook Ads campaign that sends traffic to your site, you'll typically:

  1. Create or edit your campaign in Ads Manager.
  2. Go to the Ad level.
  3. In the Destination section, make sure your website URL points to a page that links to your privacy policy in the footer (or directly to the privacy policy page).
  4. If Facebook shows a dedicated Privacy policy URL field for your format, paste your hosted privacy policy URL there.

Where to paste your privacy policy for Facebook Lead Ads

For Facebook Lead Ads (also used on Instagram), the privacy policy URL is required in the lead form itself:

  1. In Ads Manager, create or edit a campaign using Lead generation.
  2. Select your ad set, then move to the Ad level.
  3. Under Instant form, create or edit your form.
  4. Go to the Privacy section of the form builder.
  5. Paste your privacy policy URLinto the field labeled "Link to your privacy policy".

If you don't have a URL yet, you can generate one with PrivacyPolicyURL in a few minutes and paste it here.

Don't have a privacy policy URL yet?

Most small teams get stuck here. You need:

  • Policy wording that actually covers your use of data
  • A hosted page that won't disappear
  • A clean URL you can paste into Facebook Ads and Lead Ads

PrivacyPolicyURL helps by generating a tailored privacy policy for your app, website, or campaign and hosting it at a stable URL you can paste anywhere you see a field labeled "privacy policy URL".

Generate a Facebook Ads privacy policy URL

Use the generator once and reuse the same URL across Facebook Ads, Facebook Lead Ads, and other campaigns that ask for a privacy policy link.
